We might be Bought, but we are not Mercenaries.

Back in the day of battles and wars, mercenaries were soldiers for hire. Whether individuals or entire nations who saw a way to make money, mercenaries did not typically care about what they were fighting for. They didn’t believe in the cause, and they didn’t have a love for that country. In fact, they were often considered a lower class of fighter because if it came down to death or retreat, they would retreat. Why give their lives for something they didn’t care about?

We are bought with a price as believers, that precious blood of Jesus, but it is that price that should only make our fight that much more worth it! Do you fight out of love, or out of duty? Do you fight from a passion for your God, or because you have to in order to be a Christian and go to heaven?

Are YOU a mercenary in disguise?

Y’all, as we go into this week, let us remember that we are in a fight whether we want to be or not. The world cannot effectively battle evil and sin when it resides within their own hearts. Why not choose Jesus not just with your soul, but with heart and soul, and show them the One who has power to defeat the enemy?

A mercenary Christian cannot see that God has already given victory.

Stop choosing the chains, Romans 6. Stop choosing to live in the darkness, when He’s already given you light. Stop choosing to see this as a fight that YOU have to win, and recognize that He’s already won it for you. Stop seeing this as a battle that you could lose, fighting from a position of desperation, and step out boldly in the confidence of His power.

Here’s 1 Corinthians 15:58, 59. Pretty much sums it up.

I am aware that you have to leave your links on a separate page when you click this button. This is due to wordpress.com not allowing certain html codes on their sites. I do not generate income with this blog, therefore I will not be upgrading to wordpress.org simply to enable a linkup to show up here instead of on the inlinkz site. I hope that is not too much of an inconvenience for y’all; I assure you we still want you to be a part of our Warriors group!

  1. Liz – great inspiring challenge – I don’t want to be a mercenary in heart, deed, or action. I want to be a warrior standing on the side of my God who has already won the battle and is Victorious! Thanks for hosting this week and for the great post.
